LA-ughs, Shorts, Industry Insiders Gather April 4

The L.A. Comedy Shorts Film Festival is April 4-7, 2013 in Downtown LA @ 251 S. Main Street, Los Angeles. The festival celebrates comedy short films with four days of screening blocks, industry panels, and nightly parties. Pass holders will have a chance to mingle among festival goers daily with special pass holder-only cocktail receptions and a scheduled pizza party. FunnyorDie.com among others, sponsor the cultivation of comedy that was co-founded by artistic director Gary Anthony Williams.  On Sunday, April 7th, the conclusion of the celebration is a red carpet awards gala that will be hosted by Wayne Brady.

There are #9 film blocks through the four days of festival. Blocks #1-3 will be held on Friday, April 5th. Day three will feature blocks #4-7 and the final blocks #8 and #9 will be held on Sunday. All blocks have a running time of 90 minutes. You may purchase tickets for each block or save by ordering a day pass or VIP pass for the entire four days.

Industry panels will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Four panels in all featuring motivation and education from industry insiders are as follows:

PANEL #1: Wheelers & Dealers: Comedy Producing & Development
PANEL #2: Digital Double-Down: Making New Media Work for You
PANEL #3: Famous People Talking about S&*%!
PANEL #4: Get Lit: Comedy Writing Panel

A sampling of the list of insiders include Billy Gardell from Mike and Molly, Wendi McClendon-Covey seen on Reno 911, Rules of Engagement, and the hit movie Bridesmaids, and comedian Paul Rodriguez. Jim Rash from Community will contribute to the writing panel being held at the Thousands Crane Room at the Double Tree Hilton.

Nightly parties include an opening evening Casino Royale with Cheese party, Friday night Kyoto Garden rooftop party, a Saturday Night Special : Always Bet on Black, where guests name their favorite movie and an all black cast of actors reenacts the black version of said film. Sunday night's final party is all gala style with a special LA Comedy Shorts Commie Award being presented to Key and Peele of Comedy Central.
